Human beings are unique
The Bible says that people were "made in the image of God",
and the evidence surely is that we are unique among the creatures
on this earth. Not only are there quantitative differences
(we are, apparently, the most intelligent creatures on the planet),
but quantitative differences too, which set us apart from al
other creatures. Here are a few:
- Humans use language.
- Humans are inherently religious (all societies practice religion,
no animals do).
- Humans bury their dead, no animals do.
- Humans have social structures infinitely more developed than animals.
Furthermore, there is no evidence of any of these evolving to become
more complex.
Ancient languages are, if anything, more complex and intricate
than modern ones. (This is certainly the case in the "evolution"
of the English and Greek languages - noun and verb forms are simpler
than in the past).
The same goes for ancient or "primitive"
societies in general.
